Recipe Brief Description: Indian sweet made from a Carrot of finely grated, milk, and sugar and flavored with cardamom. The consistency is that of a thick pudding.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Carrot – 2 cup (grated)
  • Milk – 2 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Nuts – 1/4 cup (almonds and cashews)
  • Raisins – 1 tbsp
  • Cardamon powder - 1 tbsp

    Cooking Time: 20 minutes

    Preparation Method:
  • Heat ghee in a small pan and fry nuts, raisins. Keep aside.
  • Heat milk in a heavy bottomed pan and add carrot. Cover and cook on medium flame, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking on bottom.
  • After 15 minutes, when all the milk is absorbed by the carrot, add sugar and stir continuously.
  • After about 8 minutes, oil starts getting separated from the halwa. At this stage add cardamom powder, fried nuts, raisins and 1 tbsp ghee.Switch off the flame and serve hot/cold.
