Recipe Brief Description : Karnataka traditional Sweet dish made from coconut, jaggery and flavored with cardamom.
Coconut – 1 number (whole)
Fine semolina – 1/4 cup
Jaggery –1 cup
Cardamom – 4 numbers
Maida – 1 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tbsp
Oil - 4 tbsp
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Grate coconut and grind to a paste. Powder jaggery mix with little bit water and heat until a thick syrup is formed.
To this add coconut paste, cardamom powder and mix well, cook until water evaporates and remove from fire and allow cool.
In a separate bowl mix in rava, maida and water as consistence required to make knead adding a little oil. And keep it aside for a ½ hour.
Make small balls dough. Make each ball into a cup and keep a small ball of jaggery coconut paste in the middle and close all the sides. Pat to a chapathi like round on a greased plain leaf or plastic sheet.
Heat a tava, and fry this holige on both sides and add ghee/ oil around and serve hot.
