Recipe Brief Description : A traditional Karnataka Rice dish, made with lots of curry leaves, coconut and coriander leaves.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Curry leaves - 2 bunch (chopped)
  • Garlic - 9-10 pods
  • Coriander leaves - 1 bunch
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tbsp
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Lemon - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Green chillies - 2 numbers

    Cooking Time: 20 minutes

    Preparation Method:
  • Grind the curry leaves with out adding water.
  • Add cumin seeds, green chillies, coriander leaves and coconut and add little bit of water as consistence required to make masala paste.
  • Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds and allow spluttering, mix rice and frying for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now, mix in masala paste and cook for 1 minute add 2 cup of water and salt to taste.
  • Pressure-cook till the rice is tender or 1 whistle.
  • Put off the cooker, remove to a serving dish and just before serving add lemon juice and serve hot.
