Fruit Halwa

Recipe Brief Description : A very popular sweet made with papaya, apple and chikku. It can be served hot or cold.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Papaya - 2 cup (peeled and cut into small pieces)
  • Apple - 1 number (peeled cored and cut into small pieces)
  • Chikku - 3 numbers (peeled and seeds removed)
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Ghee – 1 cup

    Cooking Time: 20 minutes

    Preparation Method:
  • Heat 2 cup of water in a thick bottomed pan. Add all the fruits pieces. Cook on medium heat, mashing the back of a wooden spoon so that the fruit pieces become pulpy.
  • Add sugar and cook on low fire, stirring from time to time so that the sugar melts. Add cardamom powder and mix gently.
  • Now, start adding the ghee a little at a time and keep stirring. Use up all the ghee and when the halwa has started to give out a fine aroma and the ghee floats on top it is time to put off the heat.
