Hesarubele-Sabakki Payasa

Recipe Brief Description : This hesarubele-sabakki payasa is a traditional of South Indian. My mother cooks very deliciously, everyone loves to eat.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Hesarubele / Moong dal – ½ cup
  • Sago / Sabakki – ½ cup
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Coconut Milk – 1 cup ( extract milk from fresh coconut)
  • Jaggery – 1 cup
  • Cardomom / yelakki powder – 1 tbsp
  • Ghee – 2-3 tbsp
  • Cashews and Raisins (garnish)

    Cooking Time: 25 minutes

    Preparation Method:
  • Take a pressure cooker fry the hesarubele till light brown and add the sago/sabakki with 1 cup of water for 2 whistle.
  • In a pan add jaggery and 1 cup of water. Once the jaggery is melted filter it in another bowl adds milk, coconut milk cook for 5 minutes.
  • To the boiling Milk add the cooked dal (hesarubele and sabakki), mix well and cook for another 5-10 minutes.
  • Keep stirring or else payasa might stick to the bottom.
  • Take a small pan add ghee with cashews and raisins and fry.
  • Finally, garnish with yelakki powder and fried dry fruits.
    Yummy, delicious very tasty hesarubele-sabakki payasa is ready. Serve hot.
