Recipe Brief Description : South Indian steamed rice cake. A very popular break fast made out of with rice, black gram and methi seeds. Generally eaten with sambar or chutney.
Rice - 2 cup
Urdal dal or black gram - 1/2 cup
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tbsp
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Soak rice, urdal dal and methi in a separate bowl for 4-5 hours.
After soaking first grind urdal dal it should be ground to a very fine paste. Rice can be ground coarsely.
Then mix all the pastes very well and add salt to taste. Keep over night to get ferment.
Next day morning, mix in cooking soda and stir well.
Now, pour this batter into a greased idli plate and steam in a pressure cooker for 10mins. Serve with chutney or samber.
