Masala Vada

Recipe Brief Description : Super crispy outside and crunchy inside, made with chana dal and onion.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Chana dal – 250 grams
  • Onion – 1/2 kg
  • Green chillies – 4-5 numbers (finely chopped)
  • Red chillies – 3 numbers
  • Oil for deep fry
  • Curry leaves – 4-5 numbers (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves – 1 bunch (finely chopped)
  • Dill greens - 1 bunch (finely chopped)
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

    Cooking Time: 30 minutes

    Preparation Method:
  • Soak chana dal in water for about 2-3 hours. Drain and blend in mixer with red chillies to a rough paste.
  • In a bowl mix in onion, ginger-garlic paste, green chillies, curry leaves, coriander leaves, dill greens and salt to taste.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Take lemon sized balls of the dough, flatten them on a greased banana leaf or plastic sheet and deep fry.
