Recipe Name: Moong Daler Khichudi

Recipe Brief Description : Khichudi is a preparation made from rice and lentils. In bengal khichudi is a traditional dish preparing during saraswati puja and durga pooja.
Split green lentil – 250 gram
Basmati rice – 200 gram
Oil - 4 tbsp
Ginger paste – 2 tbsp
Green chili paste - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Dry red chili - 2 number
Bay Leaves - 2 number
Salt - 2 tbsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tbsp
Ghee - 3 tbsp
Garam masala - 1 tbsp
Green chili - 2 number
Cardamom - 4 number (crushed)
Cinnamon stick (medium) crushed
For the Vada
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Dry roast moong dal for 5-6 minutes on a deep pan.
Wash the roasted dal with water and drain out the water. Keep it aside.
Wash rice with water and drain out water. Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seed, red chili, bay leaves, cardamom & cinnamon. Add ginger paste, chili paste and turmeric powder. Mix it well and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
Now, mix in rice and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add moong dal and stir for 2 minutes and mix well.
Add salt and water ( 1 liter) , allow to boil. Add ghee, garam masala and green chili.
Cover cooker with lid and cook till 2 whistle. Allow the pressure to release and open the lid.
