Puliogare Goju

Recipe Brief Description : Puliogare is a traditional of South Indian. It is one of my favorite dish too. I learnt from my mother.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Tamarind Juice – 1 cup
  • Jaggery – 2 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
  • Pepper corns – 1 tbsp
  • Jeera / cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Channa dal – 2 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 2 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds – 2 tbsp
  • Dry Red chillies – 8-10
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Groundnuts / peanuts – 4 tbsp
  • Cooking oil – 10 tbsp
  • Curry leaf (few)
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp
  • Desiccated coconut – ½ cup (grated)

    Cooking Time: 25 minutes

    Preparation Method:
  • Take a pan heat it roast one by one (coriander seeds, pepper corns, jeera, channa dal, urad dal, dry red chillies, mustard) and grind until smooth powder. Add the desiccated coconut and grind again to mix well.
  • Soak tamarind in water for an hour and extract the juice from it. Keep aside.
  • Heat a pan for seasoning using oil, mustard, curry leaf, groundnuts, sesame seeds, turmeric, grinded powder, fry well for a minute and add the tamarind juice and add salt, jaggery mix well and cook for few minutes till it becomes thick and oil separates.
    Note: This Puliogare goju can be refrigerated in an airtight container for a more than 15 days. When required just cook the rice and add puliogare goju , ready to eat.
