Recipe Name: Toy Kadhi
Recipe Main Ingredient: Split Pigeon pea
Recipe Brief Description : Dal flavored with roasted and powdered peppercorns, cumin seeds and red chilies.
Split pigeon pea – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tbsp
Green chilies - 2-3 numbers (chopped)
Red chilies – 2-3 numbers
Black peppercorns – 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - 8-10 number
Tamarind pulp - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Cook toor dal with turmeric powder, salt and green chilies till soft.
Dry roast black peppercorns, red chilies and cumin seeds till fragrant. Transfer into a mixer jar and grind into a coarse powder.
Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add curry leaves, spice powder, tamarind pulp and stir for few second. Add the cooked dal with 1 cup of water, salt and mix well.
When the kadhi comes to a boil, transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
